Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

In short: the only personal information we collect is what you type into our contact form (your name, email and message), and we use it for one thing only, to reply to you. We do not use cookies, we do not track you, and we never sell or trade your information.

Modomura is a Canadian store. We handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the federal Canadian privacy law, and this policy is organised around its ten fair information principles.

1. Accountability

Modomura is responsible for the personal information under its control. We have designated a privacy contact who is accountable for our compliance with this policy. You can reach them at info@modomura.com. When we use outside service providers to process information on our behalf, we use providers that offer a comparable level of protection.

2. Identifying purposes

We collect personal information for one purpose only: to read and reply to the message you send us through our contact form. That includes answering questions about our products, responding to feedback, and discussing supplier or wholesale partnerships. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to your message.

If we ever want to use your information for a new purpose, we will identify that purpose and ask for your consent first.

3. Consent

You give us your information voluntarily when you choose to fill in and send the contact form, and sending it is your consent for us to use that information to reply to you. Nothing is collected unless you submit the form. Sending us a message does not subscribe you to a newsletter or any marketing list, and we will not send you commercial messages. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us, subject to legal or business limitations and reasonable notice.

4. Limiting collection

We collect only what is necessary for the purpose above. Specifically, our contact form collects:

  • Your name, so we know who we are replying to;
  • Your email address, so we can send that reply;
  • The content of your message.

That is all. We do not ask for an address, a phone number or payment details, we have no user accounts, and we do not buy personal information from third parties or collect it from other sources.

5. Limiting use, disclosure and retention

We use your information only to reply to you. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not disclose it to third parties for their own purposes. The only parties who handle it are the service providers that deliver your message to us, described in section 7, and we would only disclose information beyond that if required to do so by Canadian law.

Your message is delivered to our email inbox. We keep it only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and to keep a reasonable record of our correspondence, and no longer than 24 months, after which it is deleted. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time.

6. Accuracy

The information we hold is simply what you typed, so it is as accurate as you made it. If you tell us something was wrong, or that your contact details have changed, we will correct our records.

7. Safeguards

Our website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and your message is transmitted encrypted. It is processed by Amazon Web Services and delivered to us by Amazon Simple Email Service. We do not store your message in any database of our own; our processing records keep only technical metadata, never your name, address or the content of your message.

Because we use Amazon Web Services, your message passes through and is stored on servers located in the United States, and may therefore be accessible to United States authorities under the laws of that country. Access to our inbox is limited to the people at Modomura who need it in order to answer you.

8. Openness

This policy is our statement of how we handle personal information, and it is public on our website. To be specific about the technology behind the site:

  • We do not use cookies. This site sets no cookies of any kind.
  • We do not use analytics or tracking. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no third-party tracker on this site, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
  • Language preference. If you switch languages, your browser stores that choice locally on your own device so the site remembers it next time. It is not a cookie, it is never sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes it.
  • Fonts. Our typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests them from Google and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. No cookie is set for this.

Our website links to our storefront on Amazon. Once you follow such a link you are on Amazon's site, and Amazon's own privacy policy applies to what happens there, not ours.

9. Individual access

You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, how we have used it and to whom we have disclosed it, and to have inaccurate information corrected or your information deleted. Write to us at info@modomura.com and we will respond within 30 days, at no cost to you. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we release information, so that we do not disclose it to the wrong person.

10. Challenging compliance

If you have a question or a concern about how we handle your personal information, write to our privacy contact at info@modomura.com. We will investigate every complaint, and if a complaint is justified we will correct the practice behind it.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may bring the matter to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

Changes to this policy

As Modomura grows we may update this policy. When we do, we will change the date at the top of the page, and if a change is significant we will say so clearly on our website.
